VALUES ON DEMAND - an ongoing project
The project Values on demand is based on an ongoing taking of an inventory inside Constitutions, Human Rights Declarations and other normative papers of agreement from all over our planet. The investigation has been focused so far on the presence of normative Values, which are supposed to function as mission statement for societies and their governments.
Considering the reality (or better the mediated reality) of course one may point at the gap between those claims and actualities (...). Thus it seems on the first glance obvious to query their effectiveness as a political and social tool. But are Norms tools? Or are they guidelines? Or are they rather of different nature, beyond short termed usability and other economic imperatives?

The project book “Stuffed Silence" includes several contributions:
The specific installation “Stuffed Silence” has been analyzed and contextualized by the curator of the exhibition Valentín Roma. The art historian Marta Gili (Jeu de paume Paris) is writing about Andreas M. Kaufmann’s artistic practice in general. Andreas M. Kaufmann is talking with the musician Gabriel Ananda about his music, specifically in their common collaboration in this project. Eventually the Ethnologist Markus Coester is approaching the specific language in Fela Kuti’s Lyrics.
These contributions are intersected by four inserts, which contain information about the artistic conception, a photographical In-situ documentation of the intervention at Espai ZER01, still images of the whole animation, examples of Fela Kuti’s Lyrics and the values which are functioning as actors in this four-channel video installation.
The book has been rounded up with eight unanswered questions to Federal Judge Baltasar Garzón, related web-links, bibliographical references and translations of all texts English, Spanish and Catalan.

This book is going to have a double appearance and also a double distribution: It will be published traditionally printed as well as in the digital format of an e-book, downloadable free of charge. The printed version is at once available in any good bookstore or directly by contacting kaufand@yahoo.de or contact@andreas-kaufmann.com. Contact: www.revolver-books.de or Buchhandlung Walther König

It is a collaborative and nonprofit book project with 101 contributions most of them made exclusively for this publication, all by different authors, such as architects, designers, film makers, artists, critics and curators etc. from all over the world. The book opens up to the outside by referring and linking itself to other media. It follows issues that are situated in the complex field of the "local" and "global" and asks for the collective memory/memories questioning if there can be a copyright on them.
Being rather organized like a film-story-board, it subversively undermines what one would generally expect from a book: In the main part of the book all contributions are displayed in their original language in which they had been submitted; furthermore, as a rule, the names of the respective authors can only be found in the second part of this book called “references” unless the contributioo?n is a letter for which sender and receiver are constitutional. However, one may find most translations, names and biographies of the respective authors, additional information, etc. All texts have been translated into Polish and English. Last but not least the book has also to be understood as an object that wants to be used.
